Skygreen Appointed to Brotherhood Green Initiative

The Brotherhood of St Laurence, a leading advocate for low income and disadvantaged Australians, has appointed Skygreen as its preferred supplier of environmental retro-fitting services.

Propelled by the Brotherhood of St Laurence's (BSL's) research into financially-disadvantaged households gaining access to energy efficiency measures, the new ‘Brotherhood Green' program will partner with Skygreen to provide ceiling insulation, as well as other domestic retrofitting services in low-income homes across Victoria.

According to Mr Len Leonidas, the Senior Manager of Social Enterprises at BSL, the Brotherhood Green program and Skygreen's involvement is an important community endeavour because it will provide lower income families with ongoing savings on energy bills.

"It's critical to create social equality in relation to climate change so we are working with Governments to ensure low income and disadvantaged Australians are protected from the effects of and the responses to climate change," said Mr Leonidas.

"We are thrilled with the appointment of Skygreen as our implementation partner for the Brotherhood Green program - they will be responsible for retro-fitting energy efficient resources into people's homes such as solar panels and ceiling insulation.

"Effectively, Skygreen is acting as the arms and legs for BSL because they have the unique capacity to install these energy efficient measures in homes right across Australia, and most impressively, in regional and remote areas of the country.

"With an unequalled ability to manage customer enquiries, technicians' despatch and workload through their ‘Skysuite' logistics centre, we are supremely confident that Skygreen will offer the best and most efficient service to our marginalised families, he said.

Established during the Great Depression, BSL was founded by Father Gerard Tucker and works tirelessly to fight against social injustice and poverty in Australia by providing vital services to disadvantaged individuals and emerging communities.
